Hi! I’m Aaron Smith, founder of Littlest Lantern.
Before starting the studio, I spent nearly a decade as a mechanical engineer and project manager, but I’ve always been drawn to games and storytelling. As a kid, I rarely got to actually play the board games around me. Instead, I used their pieces to invent my own games and stories. I soon found that same creative expression in writing and drawing comic strips for my friends throughout elementary school.
In 2020, I was subtly blessed by losing my job and suddenly found my time belonged to me again, free to dream and create. I began writing my first book, running a homebrew D&D campaign with friends, and trying my hand at video game design. Eventually, those interests came together into Sea Beasts: A Bloody Voyage.
Six years later, that passion project gave me the opportunity to leave engineering and pursue Littlest Lantern full time. In a way, I’m back to doing what I did as a kid, creating new worlds through games and stories, only now I get to share them with all of you.
